THE TRIBAL DRUM
We’ve had an exciting few months at Tribal since the reopening of the workshop in March after the rains. There was so much going on that we’ve been quieter than usual on emails, but here we are!!!
And with brand new bright t-shirts that our staff are so proud to wear every day.
EXPANDING IN NORTH AMERICA
At the beginning of last year, we told you how we had successfully achieved our largest export order ever to the US (remember the picture of 1,5 ton of hand-painted textiles in carton boxes piled up to the workshop’s roof?!).
Both companies have been in existence for a long time and promoting artisans work from around the world.
But their founders - Leslie and Stacey - only came to Zambia this year, under the patronage of PEP Zambia - an organization that works with small and medium enterprises to promote the Zambian artisan craft sector to the export market (amongst other sectors).
We spent time developing new design ranges and product lines for them, that they will unveil on their booths at the NY Now tradeshow in August.
It’s great to know that they will distribute those to their clients, shipping directly from the US in a few days! This will enable smaller stockists that were unable to meet our minimum order requirement, to now stock Tribal Textiles.
WE ARE IN LOVE WITH TEAL!
We are also excited to introduce our gorgeous new Moroccan Tiles design! After our founder Gillie was inspired by a trip to Morocco, she created this fabulous new line of striking, bold, and elegant patterns.
Moroccan Tiles captures the beauty of geometric and floral patterns commonly featured in Arabic art around the world, in a subtle colour palette of teals and greys.
We love teal so much that we decided to add a teal colourway to our bestselling Various Animals range. Such a fresh look, isn’t it ?
Both designs are available in our complete range of products - including cushions, table & bed linen, wall hangings and accessories – or as meterage.

All the best for now from the Tribal Team!
